Vermeer Canada Inc. is committed to providing goods and services in an accessible manner that respects the dignity and independence of individuals with disabilities. Vermeer Canada Inc. complies with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and all relevant regulations. SERVICE DISRUPTIONS


Service disruptions may occur due to reasons that may or may not be within the control or knowledge of Vermeer Canada. In the event of any temporary disruptions to facilities or services that customers with disabilities rely on to access or use Vermeer Canada’s goods or services, reasonable efforts will be made to provide advance notice.

When disruptions occur, Vermeer Canada will provide notice by:

• Posting notices at the main entrance and on the locations page of the Vermeer Canada location page on this website
• Verbally notifying customer when they are making inquiries or appointment

FEEDBACK


Feedback about the delivery of services to persons with disabilities is welcomed, as it may identify areas that require change and assist in continuous service improvement. Such feedback can be made by telephone, in person, in writing, or by e-mail. Vermeer Canada Inc. will make its best efforts to respond in the same format in which the feedback was received.

Where possible, feedback will be addressed immediately. Some feedback may, however, require more effort to address and may need to be reviewed before any action is taken. Vermeer will respond within 21 working days.

ACCESSIBILITY POLICY AND MULTI-YEAR PLAN



PURPOSE


This accessibility policy and multi-year plan outlines the policies, practices, and actions that Vermeer Canada Inc. will implement in its Ontario operations to improve opportunities for people with disabilities.


STATEMENT OF COMMITMENT


At Vermeer Canada we are committed to treating all people, including individuals with disabilities, in a manner that respects their dignity and independence. We believe in integration and equal opportunity.

To this end, we are committed to meeting the needs of individuals with disabilities promptly and will identify, prevent, and remove barriers to accessibility in all aspects of the Company’s operations. Vermeer Canada is also committed to ensuring compliance with the accessibility requirements contained in the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005, and its regulations (“AODA”).
This policy will be made available and accessible to all persons upon request and posted on Vermeer Canada’s internal and external websites. This policy will be updated appropriately, but not less frequently than every 5 years.


DEFINITIONS


Disability: Any degree of physical disability, infirmity, malformation, or disfigurement that is caused by bodily injury, birth defect, or illness

• Includes diabetes, epilepsy, a brain injury, any degree of paralysis, amputation, lack of physical compensation
• Blindness or visual impediment
• Deafness or hearing impediment
• Muteness or speech impediment
• Physical reliance on a guide dog, other animal, wheelchair, other appliance or device
• A condition of mental impairment. Developmental disability or learning disability
• Any injury or disability for which benefits were claimed or received under a provincial insurance plan

Barrier: Anything that keeps someone with a disability from fully participating in all aspects of society because of their disability.
Barriers can involve:

• Attitude – the way people think
• Architectural/structural – relate to design elements of a building
• Information – difficulties in receiving or conveying information
• Technology – technologies can prevent people from accessing information
• Systemic – company policies and procedures can create barriers often unknowingly

Accessible formats: formats that are an alternative to standard print and are accessible to people with disabilities. Accessible formats may include:

• Large print
• Braille
• Audio electronic formats, such as DVD(s), CD(s)

Communication Supports: supports that individuals with disabilities may need to access information. Some examples include plain language formats, sign language, as well as reading out loud, captioning, or using written notes to communicate.

Accommodation: The special arrangement made or assistance provided so that persons with disabilities can participate in the experiences available to persons without disabilities. Accommodations will vary depending on the person’s unique needs.

IAP: Is the individualized accommodation plan

Internet Website: Is the collection of related web pages, images, videos, or other digital assets that are addressed relative to a common Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) and are accessible to the public.

ACCESSIBLE EMERGENCY INFORMATION


Vermeer Canada is committed to providing the employees, customers, and any other visitors on a Vermeer location with disabilities with the company’s location-specific emergency response plan in an accessible way upon request. We will also provide employees with disabilities with individualized emergency response consideration as needed.


TRAINING


Vermeer Canada has completed the training required by the customer service standards under AODA and will continue to provide updated training to new staff as required by AODA. Furthermore, we will provide training to employees and contractors on applicable provincial accessibility laws and the Human Rights Code as it relates to people with disabilities. Training will be provided in a way that best suits the duties of employees and contractors.


Vermeer will take the following steps to ensure the employees are provided with the training needed to meet Ontario’s accessible laws:

• Ensure that a training program is made available that meets the requirements of the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation to all required employees and any other required parties.
• Ensure that leaders within the organization understand their responsibility to ensure this training is completed.


INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION


Vermeer Canada is committed to meeting the communication needs of people with disabilities. We will consult with them to identify their specific requirements and provide information in accessible formats with the necessary support. This will be done promptly and at no additional cost beyond standard fees, by AODA requirements.

Vermeer Canada has established practices to ensure that publicly available information is accessible to individuals with disabilities upon request. The company is also committed to making its feedback processes accessible. A review of all existing feedback processes has been completed to assess and improve accessibility as needed.

The public is hereby notified that these processes comply with AODA requirements. Vermeer Canada will continue to monitor the development of new websites and significant updates to existing ones, ensuring they conform to WCAG 2.0 Level A as applicable.


Vermeer Canada will take the following steps to make all websites and content conform with WCAG 2.0, Level AA (with certain exceptions):

• Conduct a website audit to determine gaps
• Develop a compliance plan to close the gaps identified
• Communicate plan to internal stakeholders

EMPLOYMENT


Vermeer Canada is committed to fair and accessible employment practices and to removing barriers that prevent or hinder the career development of employees with disabilities at the Company. We have taken the following steps to notify the public and staff that, when requested, Vermeer Canada will accommodate people with disabilities during the recruitment and assessment processes and when people are hired:


• Ensuring that all job expectations are defined with any documented restrictions and capabilities for any disabilities are taken into consideration
• Reviewing existing accommodation policies and return to work practices
• Conducting a gap analysis of employment practices in the areas of recruitment, performance management, and career development
• Completing a project plan with timelines associated with the identified gaps and required policy updates

Vermeer Canada has taken the following steps to develop and put in place a process for developing individual accommodation plans and return-to-work policies for employees who have been absent due to a disability:


• Any employees requiring accommodation must provide documented functional capabilities information completed by a health care professional.
• The documented functional capabilities are used to ensure that any disabilities or other special accommodations are incorporated into the return to work plan.


DESIGN OF PUBLIC PLACES


Vermeer Canada will meet the Accessibility Standards for the Design of Public Spaces when building or making major modifications to public spaces. Public spaces include:

• Outdoor paths of travel, like sidewalks, ramps, stairs, curb ramps, rest areas, and accessible pedestrian signals
• Accessible onsite parking
• Service-related elements like service counters, fixed queuing lines, and waiting areas

Vermeer Canada will put the following procedures in place to prevent service disruptions to accessible parts of its public spaces.

Vermeer Canada will provide notice when facilities or services that people with disabilities use to access goods or services are disrupted:

• In the notice, include information about the reason for the disruption, the expected duration, and a description of alternate facilities if available
• Place notice in an obvious location on premises, as well as on the website, and other key mechanisms for communicating with the public

Modification of the Plan

This plan will be reviewed and updated by Vermeer Canada at least once every 5 years. At the time of the revision, information regarding accessibility policies and practices adopted by the company by the Plan or otherwise will be included in the revised Plan.
